FLATHEAD CYLINDER HEADS
Made from heat treated aluminum(T6) they feature double the water capacity of an OEM head with an internal channel to provide even water distribution. Thermostat housings are included which have a 1½" neck diameter and hose adapters are available to fit original Ford hoses which have a 1¾" inside diameter. Thermostats, housings and hardened washers are also included and the centre outlet head can be ordered with provision for clamping a post style distributor.
The chambers are of a turbulent design and being one inch thick allow up to 11/16" hi-dome pistons with the shape promoting high flow while maintaining compression. The chambers are .425 deep over the intake valve, .375 over the exhaust valve and measure 67cc's.
To achieve the best results from these heads the block should be relieved .100 and a template is included for this purpose.
Extra material thickness is provided to each end of the early heads and on the rear of the late heads for the fitting of temperature senders, and it is recommended that a cross over hose be added joining the rear of each head with a minimum diameter of 1/2 inch to equalize the temperature between each side of the engine.
The spark plug is located centrally in the transfer area which will result in the engine requiring less total timing.
NGK B5ES spark plugs set at .030 are recommended, for performance applications, a colder heat range would be more desirable with the numbers increasing as they go colder.
This cutaway view of the cylinder head shows the quality of the casting and the unique internal coolant passage which provides a more consistent temperature, eliminating hot spots.
